Chinese Lunar New Year Parade, Year of the OX will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2009 from 2 to 5 PM in Chinatown, DC
The Chinese Community of the Greater Washington Metropolitan area is going to celebrate the "Chinese Lunar New Year" in Washington, DC Chinatown on H & I Streets, NW, between 6th and 8th Streets from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
This year will be the year 4707, the year of the OX.

 In Chinese legend, people born in the year of the Ox are known to be a born leader with patient, dutiful, reliable, practical, in addition of determined, honest and loyal; more importantly, they are like their animal sign symbolizes patient and tireless in their work. They are quiet dependable and capable of enduring any amount of hardship. As a result, they are capable and able to achieve great goals. This OX year will bring stability and growth where patience and diligence pays off.

 

Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association (CCBA) is very proud to sponsor this event. The festival includes folk dances, musical bands from various genres, local high school, cultural exhibition and a parade. The popular lion and dragon dances, as well as a five-story high firecracker that will be lit at 3:45 p.m. will also be featured in the program. Please bring your friends and family to join us for this exciting and joyful event which routinely attracts more than 40,000 patrons/tourists.
