Aiming to encourage the excellence in press photography, to promote independent expressions of different views and to foster free and unbiased exchanges of information, China International Press Photo Contest (CHIPP) is a platform for press photojournalists and photographers worldwide.
The first and largest of its kind in China, CHIPP, organized by the Photojournalist Society of China, features an international jury of eminent professionals and a world scope. With its eternal theme of peach & Development, CHIPP presents the photographers and photojournalists from every corner of the globe an opportunity to communicate with the rest of the world.
China International Press Photo Contest has started its annual invitation round for the year 2007 and invites press photographers and photojournalists throughout the world to participate. This contest accepts photographs taken during the year 2007 and intended for publication.
Jury Chair: Zugen XU (China), executive director of the Photojournalist Society of China and director of the Photo Department of Xinhua News Agency. Members: Twelve eminent journalism scholars, photography critics, photo editors and photojournalists all over the world.
Entry Rules
The competition is open to all press photographers, photojournalists of news agencies, journals, newspapers and photo agencies and freelancers.
Entrants must hold the rights to publish, distribute and exhibit the photographs submitted and will not have transferred such rights to a third party or authorized a third party to otherwise use the photographs. Freelancers should provide the professional certificates or documentary letter from official press photo organization.
All single pictures, photo stories/portfolios must have been finished and published in the print media or internet media in 2007.
One photo or stories/portfolios could only be submitted to one category. Photograph in the stories/portfolios could be submitted to single contest in the same category. The organizing committee of the CHIPP 2006 has the right to reclassify the entry if it is not submitted to an appropriate category.
All entries must be entitled and captioned with the “Five Ws”.
Photos with marks containing personal information of the entrant are not acceptable. A tag showing codes and serial number should be indicated while fill in the entry form.
The organizing committee of the CHIPP 2006 has the perpetual rights transferred by the entrant, free of charge, to use the photos in its publications or exhibitions with credit to the photographer on all reproduced photos.
Winners may be required to supply high-quality duplicate film negatives or transparencies of the photos in question. Such duplicates will not be returned.
The entrant is solely responsible for any claim or complaint that may be filled by a party who has rights to person(s), building(s) or any other subjects illustrated in the photos.
Any entrant who fails to comply with any of the Entry Rules or with the terms and conditions stated on the Entry Form will be disqualified.
The decision of the panel of judges will be final and no objection will be accepted.
The wining entries, once found in violation of the entry rules, will be disqualified and be announced to the media.

Judging Criteria: Photographs will be judged on how well they illustrate the competition theme. Accurate sorting to appropriate categories and succinct wording in captions are highly recommended.
