Dear City Leaders, Community Members, Friends and Neighbors,
Hope all is well. The way our city and community embraced arguably the largest and most exciting inauguration in recent memory, we are going to have a great year of 2009.
While enjoying this busy and exciting January-February time, we would like to inform you that our first CRC monthly meeting of 2009 has been moved to Monday, February 23, 2009. Being respectful of the community's traditional observation of the Chinese Lunar New Year's Day on January 26, the same day our January meeting was planned, we have merged the January and February monthly meetings into one, which will be held on Monday, February 23 at 7:00 pm. We apologize for any inconvenience if you had planned to attend on this Monday.
In response to your concerns and suggestions, we are adding a special flavor and significance for this up-coming CRC meeting. We have formally invited Mayor Fenty to give us the second annual keynote address about the state of the Chinatown community in a town meeting arrangement. We are currently in the process of confirming with the Mayor's scheduler for the date of February 23. However, the date is tentative and still subject to change. You may expect to receive the announcement and invitation to join in this highly anticipated event as soon as we nail down all the logistics.
To start this new year of 2009, we certainly have many exciting and/or informational activities around Chinatown. This year will be the year 4707, year of the Ox.
